What to Expect on the Day of a Brazilian Butt Lift
Dr. Lissa Bootstaylor performs this butt augmentation in her Atlanta office as an outpatient procedure. The butt lift begins with anesthesia being administered and preparation of the surgical site. Dr. Bootstaylor then extracts fat from your predetermined area, most often from your stomach, hips, thighs, or a combination of the three.
This fat is then injected into different layers of your buttocks, filling in voids and creating a full, shapely appearance. With her aesthetic eye and skilled hand, Dr. Bootstaylor hides these fat grafts, camouflaging them so your rear end looks healthy and natural.
Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery
A Brazilian butt lift is a major surgery, and it takes some time to recover. You can expect some initial bruising and swelling, both in your buttocks and the location(s) where the liposuction was performed. A compression garment is used to reduce the possibility of fluid collection and assist in the adherence of your skin. You will need to avoid sitting directly on your butt for about six weeks to allow the fat transferred to successfully graft to its new location. We will offer you some suggestions on how to do this, with many patients using a pillow under their thighs or a supportive “donut” seat to reduce any pressure.
Dr. Bootstaylor recommends a minimum rest period of at least two weeks, which allows your body time to accept the fat transfer and begin to heal. As this healing takes place, the fat transfer integrates into your buttocks and creates smooth, long-lasting curves that enhance your natural shape and contour.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs
We will use anesthesia to make sure your procedure is as comfortable as possible. As you recover, Dr. Lissa will have temporarily prescribed you some pain medication to alleviate any pain you may experience. We will also provide you with some directions on how to have the best recovery process possible, which includes using an ice pack or cold compress.
When you see Dr. Lissa for a Brazilian butt lift, she takes the time to talk to you about your expectations and how you want your body to look. This gives her the information she needs to help you get the body and butt you desire. With her expert techniques, she creates a fuller, rounder rump that still looks natural and proportionally fits your shape and body size.
Because fat reabsorption is one of the biggest concerns with a Brazilian butt lift, Dr. Bootstaylor may compensate for this, by initially adding more fat to ensure the final results are exactly what you want.
Dr. Lissa will want you to come back about a week post-op so she can monitor your progress and see how you are recovering. After that, she may ask you to return one or two more times to make sure that you are still enjoying your results and that your body hasn’t absorbed too much of the transferred fat. You will always be informed of if and when you are expected to return for a check-up appointment.
You will certainly see an improvement in volume almost immediately, but unfortunately, some of the transferred fat will not adhere 100%. Complete recovery from a Brazilian Butt Lift takes about six months, at which point, all swelling will have subsided and you will see the final results, which should last for several years. If you maintain a stable weight without significant loss or gain, you should even see the longest results from your BBL.
Absolutely! A Brazilian Butt Lift will already be combined with Liposuction, which will help give your body better contour, but many of our Atlanta BBL patients will elect to add in a Breast Augmentation or even Dermal Fillers or BOTOX®.
